Anthrax Analysis System

The goal for this project was to develop a system for Quinetic Desease Control (who were undercontract for the Centre of Desease Control (CDC) ) which would allow the system users to know if anyone has been at the site of an antherax attack. Using both NHS and Mobile data the system allows users to link diagnosis of anthrax poisoning with a patients mobile GPS data that is time stamped against locations of attacks; this also allows consideration of people as vectors of new diagnosis to take place, and illustrations of the infected to be shown on a real mapping system of any location world wide.

Processes:

  • Project managment - using MS Project - scheduling time, cost and development.

  • Dividng up taks and creating areas of the project that spsecifc teams members would lead and assist with.

  • Paperbased iterative design document.

  • Paperbased product; looking at the mapping, controls, constraints and conventions within the industry; which lead to research and ideas surrounding the ergonomics of our control and UI system.

  • Throw away game model

Research involved:

  • NHS system(s) for creating and storing data.

  • Mobile communication systems and how to access mobile data via Windows phone app development systems and commercially available data.

  • The hardware and software being used in computing industry for servers.

  • Pyhton coding.

  • Pymongo coding and client connections.

  • MongoDB setting up datasets and embedded documents; using json format

My role; as lead programmer I lead the development of the UI creating a python UI, using  Pymongo to connect to the MongoDB client. My role also required I had greater knowledge of the project and as such I was also heavily involved in other areas such as settin gup the Mongo DB server, creating Json embedded documents, drafting up pseudocode and flow diasgrams related to each version of the product as it changed due the disccusions that are typical of the iterative design process.

The final part of the prject was to create a group report and presentations- these documents are below:
